02/19/2017 - College PREP - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Skyler is a strong 2017 catching prospect with a projectable frame. He shows natural hitting instincts, using the middle of the field with a smooth, balanced swing. He uses a strong lower half and quick hands to whip the bat through the zone with great bat speed and works on a direct path to the ball. He gets the barrel to the ball and makes consistent, hard contact with gap power. Behind the plate, he shows active footwork to move laterally and collapse quickly to block. He works around the ball to receive with a firm wrist and pops up quickly to throw to second (2.09 pop time). A long toss program will improve arm strength and further improve his pop times. Skyler is an intriguing prospect we look forward to following during his senior season.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
