01/19/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Spiro is a 2027 1B/RHP that showcased his ability at the BF Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament. In the field, he has good baseball IQ and a feel for the position. When fielding he gets his hands out front and keeps his eyes behind his glove. He has a good glove angle and tries to pick out hops. He throws from a ¾ arm slot and has good accuracy on his throws around the infield. At the plate, he starts in an open stance with a low hand slot. He has an activated load and a quiet head. He has timely rhythm and does a good job of using his lower ½ in his swing. He has fast bat speed and keeps his barrel through the zone for a long time. He made consistent contact and showed a line drive approach in both the game and batting practice. On the mound, he has good mound presence and squares his body to the hitter. He keeps his stride in line and has a proper stride length. His best pitch was his breaking ball that had good break and showed signs of swing and miss stuff. He also was able to throw it in all counts for a strike. Spiro is a strong kid with lots of room to grow still. We anticipate that he will continue to excel in the years to come.

12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Spiro is a 2027 1B/RHP who showcased his skills during the BF Christmas Camp and Tournament at Pirate City. He is a coachable kid who worked hard to improve his game. At 1B he starts in a relaxed ready position and is a big target. He fields from a square fielding position with hands out front. Made accurate throws to all bases from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 74mph. On the mound he starts square to his target and has a sure setup. He gathers over the rubber and strides in-line to his target. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 60-62mph, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball, and a developing changeup. At the plate he hits from a crouched and even stance with high hands. Does a good job of using his long levers to generate bat speed. In live game action he reached base 2 times with a single and walk. Spiro was fully engaged during his time at Pirate City and we look forward to seeing him at another event soon.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
