Official Scouting Report

  • C/OFPosition Projection

10/04/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Trenton, NJ Stephen is a C/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Stephen shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is quick and clean, and he makes on-line throws to the 2B bag. Long tossing can help Stephen build up his arm strength. In the OF, Stephen shows active footwork and covers ground well. He makes the routine plays and has a clean exchange, keeping his throws on-line to his target. Stephen can field ground balls more efficiently by presenting his glove out in front to the ball. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and takes a level swing, producing solid contact. Driving his lower half more can help Stephen produce more pop off the barrel. With five more years to develop, Stephen has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/07/2019 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 12-14) Stephen is a C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed and good extension, leading to loud contact and line drives. Continuing to add strength can help Stephen improve as a hitter. With five more years to develop, Stephen has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
