06/09/2010 - Under Armour Southeast Regional Tournament - 2010 Trail continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.46 runner. Arm strength has also improved showing life, carry, and accuracy through a quick release. Glove action is soft, clean and sure as he makes all the plays. Offensively, He shows a balanced approach with good strike zone awareness. He has strength and leverage in his swing with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Game awareness is a plus as he is a plus defender with solid mental makeup.

05/23/2010 - College PREP - New Orleans, LA Stephen is a tall, athletic 2nd baseman that can switch hit. Defensively, Stephen has good hands, feet, and a good pre-pitch routine. He is aggressive to the baseball, has a good exchange, and has big play potential. If Stephen can get his glove down sooner and throw a straighter ball to his target, defensive grades can improve. Offensively, Stephen is a patient hitter from the right side with quick hands. He has a strong top hand, and if he can avoid wrapping the bat and work the ball to all fields, right handed hitting grades will improve. From the left side, Stephen is a line drive hitter who keeps his hands inside the ball. He can spray it to all fields and with more lower 1/2, lefty hitting grades will rise.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
