Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

11/14/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Pittsburgh, PA Steven showed nice all around improvements during his last workout in Pittsburgh. Arm velocity increased to 63 MPH, hitting to 42 and 40, and abilities at 3B spiked. In the INF, Steven has quick feet, agile range, and he presents well. He attacks ground balls, his hands work well, and he throws accurately across the diamond. On the mound, Steven has a balanced delivery, all out of the stretch. He keeps his eyes on target, works well to his balance point, and he finishes in a complete position toward his target. More glove side lead and a better finish can help mound effectiveness get better. Offensively, Steven is an aggressive hitter with good balance and a level swing. He works the middle of the field, makes consistent contact, and has some strength in his swing. Hitting numbers can continue to rise with more use of his lower body and added bat speed.

Academic All-American Tournament (MS) Steven is a 2B/RHP who will graduate in 2025. Steven continues to improve in all facets of his game. This 2B does a good job of creating good fielding angles. He fields out front from a low/square fielding position with a clean exchange. His arm fits the position as he gets rid of ball from a 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity of 63mph. Good life on his ball with accurate throws to first base. Showed good touch on his DP feeds. Right-handed pitcher who works exclusively from the stretch with good composure. 3 pitch pitcher who did a good job of working off of his FB. His FB topped out at 60mph while mixing in an 11/5 shaped CB and a developing changeup he throws with FB arm speed. In 2 innings of live game action, Steven induced soft groundball contact and surrendered 0 earned runs. With continued growth and development, we see him having a bright future in the game of baseball.

07/01/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Clarksburg, WV Steven is a young (2025 grad) RHP who works hard on the mound. This RHP has a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH) coming from an over-the-top arm slot and clean/free arm action. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and keeps his eyes on the target. FB ranges from 50-52. Curveball has 10/4 shape with gradual break. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed - 49-51 mph. Getting more glove side lead/tuck while driving off of the rubber with his lower 1/2 more will help to get more into his pitches. As a hitter, Steven displays a balanced setup with patience as he waits for a pitch he likes. He takes a hack and barrels the ball up, with some pop to his pull-side. Swinging on a shorter/more direct path while engaging his full lower 1/2 will help to increase power. Lee has skills with still a ton of time to progress and physically mature.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
