Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHPPosition Projection

12/02/2022 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Steve is a projectable RHP in the 2025 class. He shows a fluid delivery and a loose arm. He keeps his eyes to the target well and gets down the mound. He generates power by staying tall and hip engagement to allow the ball to jump out of his hand. His FB sat 78-81 with running action. His CB sat 63-65 with solid depth and tight spin. His SL was in the 70-1 range and provided more of a sweeping action. Working to maintain his FB arm slot on this pitch will provide further deception. His CH had good feel at 66-73. Scouts felt he mixed his pitches well and showed excellent poise. He likes to attack hitters on both sides of the plate. Is quick from the stretch (1.41) and has a solid pick off move. Fields his position well and backs up his bases. Creating a faster tempo for his infielders and separating the run game/hitter concentration will be great areas where he can work to improve. Flash ability at the plate as well. He has a simple swing with juice (87 exit velo). Creates hard contact to the pull side. Overall, Steve is trending upwards and scouts can not wait to see him at another event.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
