10/24/2012 - Arizona Freshman/Sophmore Fall Classic Steven is a third basemen/outfielder with an athletic build and a strong lower half. Defensively at third, he has an accurate arm, good use of his lower half, and an ability to make the routine plays. In the outfield, he got good jumps but still had limited range, due to slower foot speed. Increasing his agility/foot speed will help his defensive game all around. Offensively, Steven had good separation, firm front side and a good rhythm/pace that he trusted, never over-swinging. His shoulders are slightly uphill and he has a tendency to roll over balls. With his strong work ethic and his willingness to get better, Steven should be able to fix his mechanics and become more fundamentally sound. We would suggest he continue to work at third, but also implement some work at first base, as corner guys tend to play both positions, and the more versatile he is with both spots, the greater chance he has to play at the next level.
