07/28/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Stevyn continues to show a promising future on the diamond with improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.13. At the plate, power potential is now well above average through a closed setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. Fastball showed a range of 73-80 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.
