07/28/2023 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC (MS) Talan is a 2027 1B/RHP prospect who recently showcased his skills at the National World Series at the JRTC. At first, he gets in a relaxed, athletic position pre-pitch and shows off efficient footwork and movements. He gets a good first step and shows off quick movements to the glove side. He gets in an athletic, low fielding position and makes on-time movements to the ball with his hands. He has a quick exchange and creates momentum to his targets with his throws. He makes accurate throws with a quick, short arm action and recorded a raw velo of 74 MPH. At the plate, he starts in a narrow stance with low hands. He shows off aggressive movements to the baseball with quick hands. He showed some pop to the pull side and recorded an exit velo of 75 MPH, greatly improving on his previous readings. He reached base in 5 of 7 plate appearances in game action with a double, single, and three walks. On the mound, he throws from a low 3/4 slot that is tough on right handed hitters and shows good command of the strike zone with his four offerings. He's very confident in his movements, getting on-time separation with a clean arm action back. He has a controlled landing and finishes with his chest over his knee. His FB has some arm side run and he keeps it around the plate consistently. His BB has some sweep to it. He fired 18 of 22 pitches for a strike and punched out four hitters in game action. Overall, Talan is an exciting prospect that should continue to develop nicely as he enters his freshman year of high school this fall!

03/11/2023 - National Showcase - Sioux Falls, SD Talan is a 2027 RHP/OF prospect. In the OF, Talan gives a great effort and has good energy. He displays efficient feet and is able to make routine plays. He shows off a solid arm with a raw velo of 74 MPH. He is able to make accurate throws with a good arm action. As he gets more experience playing in the OF, he should be able to improve on his routes/angles on fly balls. At the plate, Talan features an open stance with a long stride. Swing can be a little across his body, but he works hard to keep his lower half in sync. He has a slight up-hill swing and works some to the pull side. On the mound, Talan gathers over the rubber and has a clean arm action with a good stride length to his target. He does a great job of throwing to the zone, especially with his FB. CB has some break and 10-4 shape. Works to maintain arm speed on all off speed pitches. Looking forward to seeing Talan progress as a pitcher and OF!

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
