01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Tanner continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved a tall setup. He has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he shows proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and present well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 66 mph. Fastball shows a range of 64-66 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/15/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Kansas City, KS Tanner is a young, lefty, 2-way player who plays 1B and LHP. Defensively, Tanner has good pre-pitch actions, soft hands, and he fields low and athletically. He has good bag awareness, makes plays, and throws with accuracy and consistently to his target. On the mound, this LHP hides the ball well through a deceptive delivery. He separates his hands on time, he has a controlled landing toward home plate, and he competes in the zone. Offensively, Tanner has a tall/open stance, a short/square stride, and he tracks the ball well. He is a strong hitter with powerful swing. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
