10/27/2010 - Arizona Fr/So Fall Classic - 2010 Tanner is a young (2013) two-way player at 1B plus on the mound with a broad frame that is well suited for his position and shows projection as he continues to physically matures. Currently, he projects best at 1B for the next level. Foot speed is below average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness. Foot work around the bag is a plus with hands and feet working well to get rid of the baseball quickly. He gets into a solid fielding position, displaying soft, clean, and sure hands. Throws show accuracy but needs to get on a long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength and with carry. Offensively is where Guerra shows best through a solid approach. He makes consistent hard contact with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. He has strength in his swing and will hit with power. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-76 mph with tailing action. Changeup is best off speed pitch showing slightly above average feel for with sinking action. Breaking ball is more of a slurve as he needs to work to stay on top of the pitch. His best trait is his is eagerness to want to get better as he is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Tanner has abilities with a lot of room and time to improve.
