Official Scouting Report

  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

11/05/2023 - National Showcase - Gambrills, MD Tanner has improved a lot since we have last workout with us. Athletic indicators in particular really stand out - 86 mph exit velocity, 84 mph arm strength, and 6.94 60 yard dash. He moves well in the outfield and shows off his strong arm. As a hitter, he is consistent with his barrel accuracy and brings a nice speed / power combo to the plate. On the mound, he mixes his speeds well and flashes a fastball in the high 70s. Tanner is a possible two way player at the next level as he is effective as both an outfielder and a LHP.

11/18/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Fall Prospects Tournament (HS) Tanner is a 2024 LHP/OF who showcased his skills during the Fall Prospects Tournament. In the OF, he starts with efficient footwork and works to center the baseball. Has clean exchange and creates momentum towards the infield. He made accurate throws from a 3/4 arm slot into the infield, with a quick release, and had an arm velocity up to 79mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance. He works to keep his hands inside the ball and keeps his weight between his knees. He hit balls into both gaps a bat exit velocity up to 78mph during BP. During the games, he reached base 3 times with a single and reached twice on errors. He also had an RBI and a stolen base. A left-handed pitcher, he starts with a small rocker step, with his glove centered, and keeps his eyes level. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 76mph with arm side run, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball with good tilt, and a developing changeup. He showed ability to throw his CB for strikes in any count. Tanner is a 2-way player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field. We look forward to seeing what the future holds as he enters his junior baseball season.

08/21/2021 - Summer Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) Tanner showed some know-how as an outfielder and moves very well for his age. Tanner takes good angles to the ball in the outfield and throws with accuracy. At the Summer Pro Training event we saw all of his defensive measurables go up including a 4 mph jum in throwing velocity since June! (Up to 79 mph) At the plate he makes consisten contact and has decent power when he delivers the barrel. If Tanner can continue to work hard during his off-season training regimen, he can really take strides and turn himself into a solid prospect over the next couple of years!

06/21/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Frederick, MD Tanner is an OF/LHP who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame thin build with some present strength on his frame and plenty of time/room to add throughout. A left-handed pitcher who throws exclusively from the stretch. Gathers over the rubber and works with good direction down the mound. Throws from an over-the-top arm slot with ability to repeat his delivery. Throws 3 pitches from the same window and is around the zone with all 3 pitches. Showed FB command that was up to 70mph. Mixed in a 12/6 shaped CB with medium break and a developing CH that should improve with slight adjustment to his grip. FB was best pitch during his bullpen. In the OF, active/efficient feet while trying to create good angles. Tries to work behind ball while creating momentum on his his throws into infield. Long/loose arm action at take back up to a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity of 75mph. A right-handed hitter, sets up with an upright and closed stance. Good rhythm to swing, with quick hands, and ability to find barrels. Good extension through the hitting zone, while hitting line drives into both gaps with a recorded bat exit velocity of 74mph during his round of BP. Solid 2-way prospect with tremendous upside who continues to improve his skillsets that college coaches desire.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
