01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Tatum is a young, thin, athletic 2-way player both at SS and on the mound. He currently projects equally at both positions and can be a dual position player at the next level. At SS, Tatum has good hands and feet, and he plays through the ball well. He is light on his feet, has good range, and his throws have carry across the diamond. With better throwing accuracy, and by fielding the ball out in front of his body more, Tatum's defense can get even better. On the mound, Tatum has a good loose / quick arm, and he attacks hitters. His FB touched 87 MPH, he keeps his eyes to his target, and he is around the plate with his pitches. Tatum can improve on the mound if he can avoid falling off to the 1st base side when following through. Offensively, Tatum has a quiet approach and good bat speed. He has quick hands, a level swing, and gets good extension to the ball. IF Tatum can keep his swing compact and avoid wrapping the bat, solid offensive numbers could get even better!
