01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Taylor improved foot speed and is now a well above average runner as indicated by his 7.12 60 time. He's quick and athletic as he gains ground and works in line to his target as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as well as he threw his lowest pop time to date at 1.89 with life, accuracy and on line carry through his target. He will control the running game with his feet and arm. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, generating outstanding bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off his bat and he displays plus barrel accuracy. Taylor has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

07/16/2012 - 2012 Team One Midwest Showcase Taylor is a strong and athletic catcher with an accurate arm. Behind the plate, he has soft hands that receive each pitch well, with athletic lateral actions on balls in the dirt, and good life in his arm that allows him to get the ball down to second base very efficiently. His defensive abilities should continue to develop as he learns to stay inline with his footwork to his target, to help eliminate some extra movement and get the full potential out of his arm. At the plate, he has explosive hands and creates good leverage that allows him to hit the ball to all fields with strong authority. He has plenty of upside as a power guy in the future. His offensive tools should continue to improve as he learns to create some extension with his hands on the outside pitch. As a 2013 graduate, Taylor has the opportunity to continue to develop his skills in preparation for the next level.

01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Field continues to show improvements in his abilities behind the plate. Feet are quick / aggressive working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the ball quickly. Pop times have dropped as he showed a range of 2.05-2.07 with accuracy on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills shows a quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, Taylor shows a balanced approach with his quick hands generating bat speed. Swing path is level with barrel working through the baseball at contact. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to load more while transferring weight properly through his lower half.

07/18/2011 - Team One Midwest 2011 Taylor is an athletic catcher that will graduate in 2013. Feet are active as he works in line to his target, gaining ground through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times show a range of 2.07-2.23 with life, carry, and accuracy on his throws. Receiving and blocking skills show quality tools that will play well at the next level. Offensively, Field shows an athletic setup as he sits in well with rhythm in his approach. Hands are quick, generating outstanding bat speed through a level swing path. He tacks a hack with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Lower half works well as he is aggressive in his hip rotation, getting a full turn. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
