12/05/2010 - College PREP - Cedar Hill, TX Thomas is a thick, average sized, 2-way player who plays 3rd base and RHP. He currently projects best in the INF, as he is half-way through his Senior year. Defensively, Thomas has firm hands, playable feet, and a quick exchange. He fields the ball in a square position, he makes plays, and throws with a quick arm across the diamond. Thomas has a high 3/4 arm slot with good accuracy, and life and carry on his throws. Defensive grades will get better if Thomas can widen his base, play in a lower position, and field the ball further out in front of his body. On the mound, Thomas has a free / loose arm and he works to his balance point well. He has smooth / on-time separation, level shoulders, and he works in good rhythm. Thomas' CH shows to be his best pitch, and he can improve mound effectiveness with added arm strength and better use of his lower 1/2. Offensively, Thomas has a square set-up, good balance, and pretty good bat speed. He has a good idea at the plate, a line drive approach, and he can spray the ball to all fields. If Thomas can shorten his stroke, and improve his extension, we could see offensive numbers spike.
