08/10/2024 - Baseball Factory Prospect Combine Thomas is a sophomore OF/RHP prospect from Ashburn, VA who showcased his skills at the BF prospect camp. Does a good job of working behind the baseball and runs good routes to the ball. Needs to work on getting his glove down sooner on ground balls as well as a good follow through. At the plate he starts with an upright stance and low hands. Shows good rhythm to his swing and gets a good hip turn. Shows a direct bat path with ability to use the whole field. Needs to work on keeping his chest behind the ball. He reached base several times and showed good instincts on the base paths. Has a good presence on the mound with a good feel for pitching. Small rocker step and breaks his hands on time. A 4-pitch pitcher who challenges hitters with a fastball that sits 72-75 mph with signs of command. He mixes in a breaking ball that flashes good depth as well as a changeup. He showed our scouts a developing knuckleball. Thomas plays with good energy and effort, and we look forward to seeing him at another event soon.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
