10/26/2014 - College PREP - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Thomas is a 2016 backstop that has a 5'10/185 lbs frame. Defensively, he shows pretty good feel with raw ability. He has a quick exchange and flashes pops in the 2.15 - 2.25 range down to second. He is quick down to block and protects - deaden the ball in front. Speeding up his feet and staying relaxed in his actions will make him quicker and stronger. Offensively, he has balance and makes sound contact. He is square with his stride and with more hand implementation will increase pop and line-drive contact. All in all - Thomas is an intriguing athlete that has another two seasons to add polish as he prepares for the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
