11/08/2024 - Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training (MS) Thomas is a promising right-handed pitcher and outfielder from the graduating class of 2030 who made significant progress at the Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training in Arizona. In the outfield, he starts in a relaxed, ready position and works hard to field the ball out front. His footwork, specifically his ability to work off his left foot, and his low funnel help him make accurate throws with good carry. On the mound, Thomas shows a confident setup, working exclusively from the stretch with a loose and quick arm action. He gets his chest to his glove and delivers a fastball and slider, although improving his command will be key as he develops further. At the plate, Thomas utilizes a small hand load and short stride, effectively getting his lower half through the swing. His ability to stay on plane and use both his hands and hips well allows him to generate consistent contact. Throughout the training, Thomas asked insightful questions and stayed engaged, showing a strong desire to improve. With his natural talent, solid foundation, and willingness to learn, Thomas has a bright future ahead and will continue to improve as he grows.

07/10/2024 - National Showcase - Trenton, NJ Thomas is a rising 7th grade RHP. He displays strong mechanics with a focus on loading his backside and maintaining proper stride length. He is quick to the plate, utilizing a fastball, a 12/6 curveball, and a changeup in his pitching repertoire. His approach on the mound reflects solid fundamentals and efficiency. As a right-handed hitter, he begins in a square stance, showcasing excellent barrel control and effective use of his legs. His direct hand path allows him to make consistent contact and spray the ball to all fields. With continued development, he is expected to make significant strides in all phases of the game, further enhancing his potential as a well-rounded player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
