01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 In addition to showing improved tools at this event, Tim also proved that he could put his abilities into play during games. He really showed as a versatile and capable player nearly across the board. He did everything from stealing bases, to throwing out would be base stealers, to striking out hitters on the mound. His overall approach was aggressive, which allowed him to take advantage of his 6.94 speed, his sub 1.90 release times (low of 1.86, down from 2.00 last time), and his 85 mph fastball (jumped top end from 84 mph last time). This combination is rare, and even more rare for a catcher to have such life in his body. Even more exciting is the fact that he is just a 2012 graduate, and has a large and sturdy frame to mature into. He has very good upside potential both on the mound and behind the plate. At this event, his biggest area for improvement appeared to be his swing mechanics. Needs to work to stay closed better with his front side, and needs to work to shorten his route to contact, the combination will help him reach a stronger contact position, and will allow him to better extend through contact. Overall, a naturally talented "baseball player" with tools and life in his body, a rare combination, and one that will make him a close follow over the next couple of years.
