Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

03/29/2009 - College PREP - Pittsburgh, PA Titus increased his velocity, delivery, and OF grades while at the event. On the mound, has good LH body frame for a pitcher and shows athleticism. Showed good quick loose arm action. Had good balance throughout delivery. Had ability to fill up strike zone when he repeated his delivery. FB showed some late run while CB had sweeping action. Long toss program will allow him to increase velocity. In the OF, showed an idea how to play. Hustled to every ball while have good body control. Was able to gather himself and make accurate throws. At the plate, showed decent prep with good load. Quick to ball in and had some pull side pop. Will utilize lower half better when he stays back and not lunge at ball.

07/17/2008 - Cape Cod Training 2008 - Week 2 Pierce showed as a talented young two-way player, with potential to excel both ways at the college level. At the plate, he showed bat speed and hand-eye coordination along with power potential. In the outfield, his actions were athletic and he showed good hands along with arm strength and good instincts. Can improve his routes and overall speed and quickness. On the mound, he topped at 82 and featured good arm action and an easy delivery with balance. He pitches had good life in the zone, and he showed some feel for pitching. Can improve his front side action, needs to stay closed better in order to stay on top of his pitches more consistently. Overall, a talented and projectable young player - a solid college follow.

12/27/2007 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2007 Pierce pitched between 73 and 76, and touched 78 with his fastball. It had flat tail action from his three quarters arm angle, and his 66 mph breaking ball had sweeping break. Tended to open his front side early, causing his shoulders to rotate flat and his elbow to fall - his arm worked across his body out front, and his pitches didn't have much down plane. At the plate, he sat in well and showed good balanced. Tended to collapse his back side, which caused some length and loop in his stroke. He made some adjustments at the plate, and has a chance to hit as he continues to improve. Was solid in the outfield, and ran right around the same in the 60 as we saw before.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
