Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/2BPosition Projection

06/27/2010 - Team One South 2010 TJ showed good improvements in his game during his time at Team One South. He improved both his fielding and arm grades from 45's to 50 and 52 respectively. In the OF, TJ has quick feet, a quick 1st step, and he attacks the ball aggressively. He tracks the ball well, makes plays, and throws accurately with good carry to his target. At the plate, TJ has a short stroke and he centers the ball well. He can hit the ball to all fields and he puts it in play. If TJ can keep his hands high, improve his rhythm, and get his front foot down sooner, we could see a spike in offensive numbers.

01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 TJ showed solid skills and good athleticism during his time at the UA Preseason All-America. He is a fast, athletic OF, with good hand-eye coordination. He gets good reads on the baseball and makes plays on balls hit his way. TJ has a solid arm and he gets the ball to the base accurately. More fluidity and confidence should help TJ improve his overall defensive abilities. Offensively, TJ has a compact, level swing. He has a line drive approach, and with a better load, and a more closed front side, TJ can further improve his overall hitting grades.

06/19/2009 - USA Baseball 16U Championships (AZ) - 2009 TJ is a young OF with a small, athletic looking body with a ton of athletic actions. His body shows future projection as he continues to physically mature and add muscle mass. Foot speed is superior as indicated by his 6.62 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in taking proper routes and angles in tracking down balls in the OF, displaying outstanding range. He needs to work to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to target. Defensive abilities in the OF are solid average. Arm strength is solid average and he will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength with carry on throws. He shows solid footwork to throw with hands and feet working well together through release. At the plate, Lindsey has solid average abilities with slightly above average power. Hands are quick and direct to the baseball, flashing bat speed. Swing path gets up hill at times and he needs to work on getting on the top half of the baseball to utilize his plus foot speed. He shows a feel for the barrel with power numbers increasing as more overall body strength is developed. He was 3 for 12 at the event with 3 singles as he will put pressure on defenses on the bases with his foot speed. TJ plays hard and shows a solid feel for the game. With 2 years to further develop, Lindsey has potential with the makings to be a solid player at the collegiate level and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
