12/04/2016 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA T.J. is an athletic, young SS who will graduate in 2019. Defensively, he showed fluid footwork, which allowed him to range to his right and left easily and beat ground balls to the spot. Hands were soft, as he fielded each ground ball cleanly, which allowed him to make a quick exchange and strong throw to 1st base. Arm was also a plus and plays very well for the position (82 mph raw velocity). At the plate, he showed the ability to spray the ball from gap to gap. Setup and balance were both very strong, as he kept himself centered throughout his swing, then exploded thru the baseball with very good extension after contact. Overall, T.J. is already a well rounded player who shows much potential in this game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
