05/02/2010 - College PREP - Boise, ID Tom is a young two-way player at 3B plus on the mound with a small average frame. Currently, he projects best at 3B for the next level. Feet are active but needs to be more aggressive in coming to get, playing through the baseball with feet / hands. Glove action is soft, clean, and presented down and out front. Throws display life, carry and accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, Sawyer shows a balanced approach that allows his hands to attack the baseball, flashing bat speed. He uses his lower half well with swing path getting long a times due to bat wrap created in load. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 71-74 mph with below average off speed pitches that need further development to be quality pitches at the next level. With 2 years to further develop, Tom has abilities with time and room to improve.
