03/07/2010 - College PREP - Plainfield, IN This is our second time seeing Tommy, with the last being in October of 2009. We saw a big jump in 60 time, from 7.12 to 6.91. His defensive grades increased from 38 to a 42. He is very aggressive to the ball in the outfield. He knows how to catch and get rid of the ball quickly, giving him strong efficiency as an outfielder. He tends to open his front hip and shoulder in his throws, which negatively affects the velocity out of his hand. There is more in the tank with better form. He does manage to throw with good accuracy to his target. As a 2B, he approaches the ball well and plays with his hands out in front of his body. He releases the ball quickly when needed and makes routine plays. He will need to make some footwork adjustments on 4-6-3 feed, but does a good job on the 6-4-3 turn. Offensively, both his hitting and power grades increased. He showed improved batspeed and barrel accuracy. He sprayed line drives to all fields. When he develops a better hitting position that provides separation from his load to his swing, he will find more consistency with all pitches. We are very excited about his overall improvement in a short time.
