Official Scouting Report

  • 2BPosition Projection

12/18/2022 - National Showcase - Bronx, NY Tommy worked out at 2nd base during his last workout with The Factory. He showed similar skills as in previous workouts. Defensively, Tommy has some pre-pitch actions, efficient footwork, and he fields squarely. He plays with high energy, makes plays, and throws with a consistent arm across to his target. At the plate, Tommy has a square stance, good balance, and he loads his hands back well. He has a repeatable swing, a direct/consistent barrel, and he taps into some lower 1/2.

11/10/2022 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Tommy continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the Select Training event in Arizona. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls but needs to play through with his body. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 61 mph. Fastball showed a range of 56-61 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound.

08/21/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Hartford, CT Tommy is a 2B/RHP in the 2023 class. In the field, he has active feet and gains ground to the baseball. His exchanges are clean and he makes accurate feeds to his targets. Working to sink his hips in his fielding position, will give his glove more freedom to choose his hop. On the mound, he operates with a 3-pitch mix. His F topped at 58 and was in the zone. His split sat 52-55 with arm side run. He stays at the knees with his CH and maintains a 55 velo. At the plate, he shows excellent plate discipline and pitch recognition. He stays square to the dish and loads his hands well. Tommy looks to generate contact and use the whole field in his approach.

05/22/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Madison (NYC), NJ Tommy is a young, thin, 2-way player who will graduate in 2023. At 2nd base, Tommy has playable hands and feet, and he shows good range to the ball. He covers ground, keeps the ball in front of his body, and throws with accuracy and direction toward his target. If Tommy can play more on the balls of his feet, field out in front, and add arm strength, defensive skills can get better. On the mound, Tommy has good balance, solid glove side lead, and he finishes with his chest out over his front knee. He mixes in his off-speed well and his FB touches 57 MPH. Mound effectiveness can improve if Tommy can loosen his arm action, lengthen his stride, and get more front arm extension. At the plate, Tommy has a tall set-up, a short stride, and he makes consistent contact. He swings on plane, hits with strength to the pull side, and uses some lower body. A more consistent load, better finish, and added lower 1/2 will help spike hitting numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
