02/06/2011 - College PREP - Houston, TX Tony is a thin, athletic OF who will graduate in 2011. In the OF, Tony has soft / sure hands, quick / fluid feet, and moves well laterally. He tracks the ball well, fields the proper hops, and gathers himself properly. Tony throws on a downhill plane with life, accuracy, and consistency to his target. Tony is a very polished OF, with a very projectable body. At the plate, Tony has a tall set-up, good load, and short stride. He has quiet actions, good balance, and makes square contact with the baseball. Tony has decent bat speed, a level swing plane, and he swings in good rhythm. A wider base, sooner front foot, and added physical strength all should help spike offensive tool grades.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
