08/06/2017 - College PREP - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Travis is a lean, athletic OF/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.24. In the OF, he utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls playing through with momentum to his target. Range is outstanding as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he takes good first steps in attacking the baseball. Glove action is soft / clean but needs to present more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Arm strength is outstanding (88 mph velocity) with throws showing life, accuracy, and on line carry. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path, creating extension with late explosion. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Travis has the makings of a special type player with room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
