08/23/2008 - College PREP - Purchase, NY Travis is young two way player in the OF and on the mound from the left side. His body is tall, lanky and shows a ton of projection as it continues to fill out. He utilizes his tall frame to work on a strong downhill plane. Arm strength is slightly average and needs to be further developed through a strict long toss program. Changeup is his best off speed pitch showing solid average ability with some fade. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with loose spin with early break. In the outfield, Skurat shows above average foot speed and utilizes his quick feet in tracking proper routes and angles to track down fly balls displaying solid range. At the plate, Travis has near average ability and average power. Hitting grades will improve quickly with some instruction and adjustments at the plate. He has abilities with room and time to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
