02/26/2017 - College PREP - Waco, TX Travis is a lean C/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.16 range with accuracy on his throws. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he is a wall behind the dish. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At 3B, he displays clean / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls through a low approach. Glove action is clean and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup with balance. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Travis has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
