01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Trent is a strong/athletic (5'9"/195) OF who continues to shine every time that he steps onto the diamond. As a hitter, he steps into the box with an aggressive approach and is looking to jump on 1st pitch FB's. He has fluid rhythm to load, whips the barrel on a short/direct path with + speed and connects with pop, driving the ball back up the middle of the field with backspin. In the OF, he shows active footwork with speed and hustles to track down fly-balls his into the gaps. He secures the ball with soft hands, has a quick/high exchange and fires accurate throws into his target. Burton is a talented OF prospect who has upside and the tools that will translate into the next level.

11/04/2020 - Texas Fall Classic Trent continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He shows a strong, accurate arm with on line zip (82 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. He should see increased success as he works to be more aggressive early in the count and jump on FB's. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, hustles all over the field and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/16/2020 - Pathway AZ Upperclass - 18U Trent continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking balls down. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (83 mph velocity).

11/08/2019 - 2019 UA Texas Fall Classic Underclass Participant Trent showed a balance setup and a good approach that allowed him to hit the ball to all fields. Muscular frame. Good instincts on the bases with several stolen bags. Good skill set that will develop into a consistent player at the next level. Trent showed a balance setup and a good approach that allowed him to hit the ball to all fields. Muscular frame. Good instincts on the bases with several stolen bags. 10/20/2019 - College PREP - Conroe (Houston), TX Trent is a strong, lefty OF who will graduate in 2022. Defensively, Trent has good pre-pitch actions, agile movements, and quick feet. He has soft/presentable hands, tracks well, and plays through; throwing with accuracy and momentum to his cut off man. Continuing to add arm strength and more front side lead when throwing can help defense continue to improve. At the plate, Trent has a tall/square stance, good balance, and fast bat speed. He has a short/square stride, a level swing, and he makes hard/level contact. Not dropping his hands and a shorter swing path will help hitting numbers get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
