At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and is smooth getting into his load. He drives through well with his lower half and takes a direct swing, driving the ball to all fields. Taking a shorter stride can help Trent improve as a hitter. With three more years to develop, Trent has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Trent continues to show to show a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 3.1 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner and increase lateral movement to improve grade. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 68 mph. Fastball showed a range of 67-68 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with early break. Stock on the mound will increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/18/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Hattiesburg, MS Trent is a young, C/RHP who continues to improve and impress on the field. He is a very reliable defender behind the plate, sticking the ball to receive and getting down quickly to block. He works well to the outer half of the plate to keep balls in the zone. He has good instincts behind the plate, showing leadership and the ability to control the run game. At the plate, this prospect shows a short path to the ball with good contact ability. He has good separation between his hands and hips to stay back and explode to the ball. Getting his front foot down on time will allow him to catch up with plus velocity and become a complete hitter. On the mound, he has a repeatable delivery with the ability to throws strikes, especially with his fastball. He extends through his release to the plate and lands direct to the plate. Trent is a good, young prospect we are excited to continue watching.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
