06/22/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Trevor continues to show solid play in his baseball abilities. Feet are quick, aggressive as he works to square balls up and makes the routine plays. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to play through balls more while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced / athletic setup and quick hands, flashing bat speed through the zone. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 8 and consistently put the ball in play. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/21/2013 - College PREP - Bartlett (Memphis), TN Trevor continues to get better each time we see him. He is a hard worker and it is paying dividends. His strong, physical frame is well-suited for 3B where he showed improved range and soft hands. He is an aggressive and confident defender who makes all of the routine plays. He can continue to stay athletic through the throw. As a hitter, Trevor has a knack for finding the barrel. His level swing path continues to produce line drives to all fields. Overall, he has made himself into a quality 3B prospect.

01/13/2012 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Ricks continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. He utilizes his quick feet well in attacking groundballs and moves well laterally, flashing range. Hands are soft / clean as he makes the plays. He needs to play through balls more and present hands out front to continue to improve defensive grades. Arm strength has improved as he shows accuracy, flashing carry on his throws across the diamond. At the plate, hitting grades have improved as well through a solid setup with balance. Hands work inside the ball as he utilizes all fields and shows plus barrel accuracy with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he gets his stride foot down sooner, working on time. At the event, he was 1 for 4.

11/20/2011 - College PREP - Germantown, TN Trevor is a solid, thick 3B that will graduate in 2014. Feet are active as he works to square balls up, shows firm / clean hands, and works to get rid of the baseball quickly. He needs to be more aggressive in playing through ground balls and improve foot speed to improve defensive grades. Throws are accurate / consistent but needs to build more arm strength. At the plate, Ricks shows a balanced approach with rhythm. Hands are quick and he works on time. Swing path gets long with barrel getting out around the baseball. He needs to work on staying inside the ball to improve hitting grades. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. With 3 years to further develop, Trevor has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
