Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Trey showed good stuff on the mound during his time at the UA Preseason All-America. He FB is in the mid 80's and touches as high as 87 MPH. Trey works quickly, has good tempo, and fills the zone with strikes. He has some life in his arm, and has good pitchability and mound presence. Trey has potential on the hill and with more front side extension, and a better mix of his pitches, his stock on the mound could rise.

06/20/2009 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Trey has really improved his baseball abilities especially on the mound where arm strength has improved as he topped out at 86 mph. Fastball shows solid arm side run as he works on a strong downhill plane creating tough angles on hitters. Breaking ball has improved showing solid average, displaying a 10/4 shape with tight spin. Knuckle ball has is best off speed pitch as it tumbles, missing a lot of bats. He had 7 K in 5 innings of work with only 1 BB as he has plus command of all his pitches. He did show as a 3B but projects best on the mound for the next level as he will get a lot of looks from the collegiate coaches with his abilities on the mound.

05/24/2009 - College PREP - Springdale (Fayetteville), AR Trey is a RHP with a tall, athletic looking body that shows future projection as he continues to physically mature and fill out. He utilizes his tall frame to work on a strong downhill plane creating tough angles on hitters. Delivery is above average as he works quickly but gets to a solid balance point with on time separation and line direction showing the ability to repeat the mechanics. Arm action is long, loose, and easy working well away from his body. Arm strength is solid average and he will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength and raising velocities. Fastball shows solid sinking action and locates well. He will get a lot of ground balls with this pitch. Changeup is best off speed pitch, showing a plus feel for with fading action. Breaking ball is more of a slurve with tight spin and needs further development to be a quality pitch at the next level. Wiley has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
