04/23/2023 - National Showcase - Daytona Beach, FL Tristan continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front and recovers well. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well. Pop times showed in the 2.09 range with accuracy / carry (88 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he shows a crouched setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

12/02/2022 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Tristen is an excellent catching prospect in the 2025 class. Behind the plate, his arm is a plus tool (89 velo/ 2.09 pop) and has accuracy. His feet are quick and shows agility in his stance. Sinks his hips well and presents a low target. His exchanges are fast and his release is from a short high ¾ slot. Working to become less staggered with his feet will allow his to receive on his arm side properly and maintain the strike zone. At the plate, he begins in a tall open stance. He uses a short stride to get square and gains a proper launch position. His timing is smooth and he generates hard contact (83 exit velo) to produce solid line drives. Overall, Tristan is a must watch player in the 2025 class.

08/14/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Fort Lauderdale, FL Tristan is a C prospect who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame lean build with strength present. Behind the dish, showed active/efficient footwork, with flexible hips, and tracks ball to mitt. Sets up in a low/square position, with an easy sway, working his thumb under and keeping balls in the zone. Creates good blocking angles, while covering the 5-hole, and uses his chest to deaden the baseball. He gains ground to second base, with a quick/clean transfer, and creates momentum to his target. Made accurate/on-line throws from an over-the-top arm slot, with a quick release, and an arm velocity up to 83mph with a best pop time of 2.05 seconds. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance. Shows good rhythm to swing, with activated hands, and takes an aggressive hack. Hits into a firm frontside with a fast barrel through the hitting zone. A short/direct barrel path enables him to hit line drives into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 81mph. As he continues to develop and mature, we foresee Tristan having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
