06/24/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Tristen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.35 runner. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

03/05/2017 - College PREP - Plainview (Lubbock), TX Tristen is an athletic built OF/C prospect who has good versatility and graduates in 2018. In the outfield, Tristen plays with effective footwork and takes the correct angles to cover good ground. He gets behind the baseball and presents his glove as he fields the ball squarely. Tristen has a quick exchange leading into a restricted arm action. As a switch-hitter, Tristen has a square setup and maintains direction with his stride. He is direct to the ball and shows solid results to the pull side. Tristen is a contact type hitter who has good potential. Behind the plate, Tristen moves with quiet body actions and has a solid setup. He is quick to collapse when needing to block and quick to recover. Tristen has a clean exchange leading into a long, restricted arm action throwing from a high 3/4 slot. Overall, Tristen has a well-rounded skill set and good potential to get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
