Official Scouting Report

10/26/2014 - National Tryout - Corpus Christi, TX This talented middle infielder showed improvement in his most recent outing. He raised his velo to 80, shrunk his 60-time to 7.04 and his LHH H-1B time to 4.32, which makes him a threat on the base paths. At SS, he gets around the ball with an "easy" look to his BH. Consistency with his throws will take his talents to the next level. At the plate, he shows a consistent, balanced, square stance with a soft stride from both sides. Staying through the ball and gaining separation will improve his hitting abilities. Tristin will see the results of his improvement in the upcoming season.

12/27/2013 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic This switch-hitting middle infielder showed well during his time in AZ. He shows a love and enjoyment for the game which rubs off on his teammates. Defensively, he has quick first step and puts himself into a great fielding position. He moves fluidly and fields the ball from right to left. He can make the tough backhand play in the hole and fire accurate throws across the diamond. At the plate, he delivers the barrel directly to the zone through a short/quick path. He gets on base consistently going 4 for 6 with 2 triples 2 singles and 3 walks. Tristin will make an impact this upcoming (junior) season.

06/15/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Tristin continues to show that he's a heads up player with a high baseball IQ. Behind the plate, he continues to use his feet well, has improved arm strength and has improved body control when blocking & receiving. He showed good instincts with confidence by throwing behind runners at appropriate times and called a quality game. As a 2B, Tristin again showed a similar solid skill set with great range and an advanced ability to anticipate before the play. He is good around the bag on a DP and will continue to get better as he improves strength/flexibility. At the plate, Tristin had a great tournament going 8-15 while showing great bat control. He has an understanding of situational hitting and should continue to work on timing and keeping stride foot soft, allowing him to stay back and drive off of the back side. He hits against a stiff front side and will see power production go up as he matures and continues his work in the weight room. Overall, Tristin is a very competitive young man with great energy on the field and plays at game speed through every rep both practice and game. He has the ability and work ethic to suggest that he will be receiving collegiate attention in the future if he continues to work hard through a detailed drill package and properly develop his abilities.

01/18/2013 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Stelly improved in several areas of his game during his time at Pirate City. He ran his lowest 60 time to date, now running a 7.63. Defensively, he works around the groundball and moves to gets into a square fielding position while maintaining good body control. He is sure handed and makes the plays, working low to high. Offensively, Tristin is aggressive in his approach. He puts the bat on the ball, putting the ball in play. Continued increase in power will only help offensive numbers climb. Tristin has a good feel for the game and wants to get better. He is coachable and still has a lot of time to polish his tools.

10/28/2012 - College PREP - Corpus Christi, TX Tristan is a young/thin second basemen that will graduate in 2015. Offensively, he has a square/tall setup, made square contact, and had an aggressive approach. Distributing his weight to the balls of his feet will help to with his balance and athleticism throughout the swing, promoting more contact and more lower-half strength. Defensively, he has short arm action and throws from the high 3/4 arm slot. He has firm hands, active footwork, consistent double-play feeds, and is aggressive fielding ground balls. Tristan needs to work on getting lower in his fielding position, promoting his hands out in front, and needs to get to the bag earlier on double-plays to help clean his transfer. In all, Tristan has another three years to mature and continue improving and hone his skills to be a middle-infielder at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
