01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament
Troy showed well on the mound and at the plate during the UA Preseason. He has a long / loose arm action, he works to his balance point well, and he has on-time separation. Troy works in good rhythm, has good direction toward home, and his delivery is compact and consistent. Offensively, Troy has a tall set-up, a short stride, and good strength. He makes contact and has pop to the pull side.
10/06/2012 - 2012 Team One Texas Showcase
Garcia continues to show as a 1B/LHP but currently projects best at 1B for the next level. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / clean and he consistently shows the ability to consistently pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. At the plate, Troy shows a balanced approach with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 5 with a 2B. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with sharp breaking action. He throws strikes will all his pitches and changes speeds well. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is developed.

Garcia has a good week at the event and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, he displays athletic feet that work well around the bag and consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, displaying soft / clean hands. Throws display accuracy / carry into his target. At the plate, Troy has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 77-81 mph with good arm side run and cutting action. Off speed pitches are quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. His best asset on the mound is his ability to throw strikes with all his pitches and command the zone. He changes speeds well and works to get ahead of hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is developed. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a quiet young man that plays hard and is very coachable.

Troy showed well both at 1st base and on the mound during his time at the Pre-Season. Defensively, Troy showed quick feet, soft / sure hands, and athletic actions. He plays low, takes good angles to the ball, and he moves well around the bag. Troy can pick the ball out of the dirt, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy and strength to his target. On the mound, Troy showed good mechanics, level shoulders, and he works in good rhythm. He has good direction, solid arm side lead, and he pitches to contact. Offensively, Troy has good balance, fast bat speed, and a loose grip. He has a level swing, he makes solid contact, and he gets his lower 1/2 through.
12/17/2011 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament - Session 1
Troy is big LHP/1B that has a lot of potential as a two-way player. At 1B, he displays proper footwork and is a quality receiver at the bag with soft hands. He needs to play through balls more, under control, and present hands more out front to improve defensive grade. At the plate, Garcia shows a balanced approach with hands working through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. He needs to work on getting front foot down sooner, staying back to improve hitting / power grade. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-84 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He slows his body and arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will rise quickly as he improves his off speed pitches. Command / control are a plus as he locates to both sides of the plate, staying down in the zone. With 2 years to further develop, Troy has a lot of potential and will draw interest from the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
