08/05/2010 - Vero Beach Pro Select Training and Competition - 2010 Troy is a young two-way player on the mound plus at 1B with a tall, solid frame that is well suited for both his positions. Currently, he projects best at 1B for the next level. Feet are active displaying proper footwork around the bag. He moves well laterally with hands and feet working well together. Glove action is clean, soft, and sure in making the plays. Throws shows accuracy and carry across the diamond but will benefit by getting on a long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength. Offensively, Kenkel shows a balanced approach with a short stroke to contact as he generates bat speed through his hands. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields, displaying a solid feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Future power potential is a plus as he displays plus extension through contact. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-78 with cutting action on a downhill plane. Off speed pitches are average, needing further development to be quality pitches at the next level. With 2 years to further develop, Troy has a lot of potential with the makings to be a solid collegiate 1B as he improves.
