07/18/2024 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC (HS) Troy is an athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in 2.12 range with accuracy / carry (82 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine displaying solid hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. With 2 years to further develop, Troy has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
