09/30/2012 - College PREP - Charlotte, NC Tucker is a 2013 left handed pitcher with a tall/lanky/thin projectable body. He throws three pitches with his fastball having run sitting at 82-84 MPH. His curve-ball that sits from 60-62 has 2/8 shape, tight spin and flashes of sharp break. He also throws a change-up with arm side run with velocity ranging from 68-72. He throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with on-time separation, good balance point, level shoulders, and keeps his eyes on the target. His arm action is stiff and his front side is dead at times. With mechanical work he will find his control increasing as well as an ability to repeat his delivery. Offensively, he has a tall/open setup with good balance and an ability to make consistent contact. He is a gap-to-gap type hitter that finds himself getting long and uphill at times, while only partially utilizing his lower half. Learning to shorten his swing, level his swing path and implement his lower half, will increase his overall hitting ability and power. All in all, the left handed pitcher that will graduate this next year is a raw pitcher with plenty of tools that will be effective with some small fundamental adjustments.
