Official Scouting Report

06/01/2019 - 2019 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Ty is an athletic and talented 2020 2-way prospect. In the OF, Ty makes the routine play and has good footwork to the ball. He has a strong arm and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Ty starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and has good rotation with his lower half. He keeps a quiet head, attacks the inside part of the ball, and drives the ball to all fields. On the bump, Ty has an athletic delivery with good tempo and he works at a good pace. His fastball has late life, his slider has late break, and his curveball has good depth. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and works north to south in his delivery. Ty has tremendous upside and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/06/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures West At 6'3", 165 pounds and with outstanding athleticism (6.95 in the 60), it's easy to dream on Ty Collins as a prospect. On the mound, his long, lean frame oozes projection and his high arm slot gets excellent downhill plane to his upper 80s fastball. There is certainly more velocity in the tank, which when combined with the existing heavy life to his current fastball, will make for a difficult at bat for hitters facing him. Ty complements his FB with a mid 70s slider and upper 70s change. Both pitches show promise. Ty also plays the outfield and swings the bat from the left side. There is natural loft to his stroke that could lead to future power, but his upside on the mound makes that the future place for him. Watch him closely, Ty could be in for a big jump in the very near future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
