Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Ty is an OF/RHP who will graduate in 2022. Medium frame, with thick lower, and athletic build with strength to the build and room to develop. In the OF, shows active footwork and ability to cover ground. Good 1st step reads enable him to work through the ball. Long arm action in back working into a high 3/4 arm slot coming forward, with accurate/on-line throws, and an arm velocity of 76mph. A right-handed pitcher, works with good tempo and separates on time. Throws a FB that sat 74-75mph with some movement in the zone. Mixed in a CB with 11/5 shape and a changeup that he throws for strikes with FB arm speed. Induced soft contact in live game action and threw 59% of his pitches for strikes. A right-handed hitter begins with an athletic and even stance. On-plane barrel path who made consistent contact into both gaps. Was 2-5 in live game action and a bat exit velocity of 80mph. With continued growth and development, we foresee Ty having a bright future on the baseball field.

12/14/2019 - Texas Regional Pitching/Catching Weekend (Ages 14-18) Ty is a coachable RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, Ty gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes square to his target. Ty shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 55-58mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 55-58mph with sinking action. Loosening his arm action can help Ty improve as a pitcher. Overall, Ty is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/06/2018 - Southwest Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Ages 12-14) Ty is a hard working and athletic 2022 prospect. He's a student of the game and made several adjustments during the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. Ty starts in an athletic stance and has an opens stride. He loads his hands back into the drive position and attacks the ball with his lower half. He shows gap-to-gap power with a middle approach. Continue to attack the inside part of the ball and keeping his head down through contact will help him stay compact with the ball. Top hand and rhythm drills will help elevate the ball more consistently. Ty will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/26/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Shreveport, LA Ty is a solid, 2-way player as an OF/3B. Defensively in the OF, he hustles hard laterally as he tracks down hard-hit fly balls. He tries to work behind the fly ball and makes strong throws to his target. At 3B, he tries to work low and fields GB's in a square position. He fields the ball, sets his feet and makes on-line throws to his target. With the stick, Ty shows a square setup with a balanced load. His head stays quiet as he takes aggressive hacks through the zone and sprays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Quick footwork
2. Work low
3. Develop soft hands
Outfield
1. Get behind on fly balls
2. Clean exchange to throw
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Improve bat speed
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Level out swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
