04/21/2013 - College PREP - Bartlett (Memphis), TN Ty is a big, physical young man (6'2", 195) who is a RHP on the baseball field and his high school's quarterback on the football field. As a pitcher he throws a sinking fastball that sits comfortably in the upper 70's and he complements that with three off-speed offerings. His change is a quality pitch with good arm speed and some run to it. He also mixes in both a curve and slider. Both show similar shape and 2-plane break with the slider thrown a few miles per hour harder. His delivery is balanced and in-line allowing him to repeat well and throw all of his pitches for strikes. Ty also shows a quiet, balanced approach at the plate with some flashes of power. Overall, Ty is a quality athlete who has a bright future on the mound.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
