Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/SSPosition Projection

01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Tyler showed good progress in his baseball abilities during his time at UA Preseason All-America. He improved his 60 time from 7.40 to 7.23, and showed good defensive work in the middle INF. Tyler's hands and feet work well, and his arm is accurate to his target. Tyler can improve defensively if he can work to field the ball in a lower, more athletic position, and get more extension on his throws across the diamond. Offensively, Tyler has good balance and bat speed. He can square the ball up well on the barrel and he puts it in play. With added strength, and more use of his lower 1/2, hitting grades can get better.

10/21/2009 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic - 2009 Tyler is a young middle IF with an athletic, average body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.40 60 time as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active and aggressive in coming to get, playing through the baseball with his feet / hands. Hands are soft, clean, and sure displaying a plus glove action in making all the plays. He shows off his athletic actions in his feeds and turns of the double play displaying above average defensive abilities in the middle of the IF. Arm strength is near above average showing life, carry, and accuracy on his throws and maybe more suited for 2B at the next level. At the plate, Brewer has solid average abilities with slightly above average power through a balanced approach. Hands are loose and quick, flashing bat speed. Power numbers will increases as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. With 2 years to further develop, Tyler has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
