08/04/2010 - College Prep Super Regional - Mattoon, IL - PM Tyler is a strong, compact, RHP / SS who will graduate in 2012. In the INF, Tyler has quick feet and is aggressive to the ball. He has soft / playable hands, a nice backhand, and he gathers himself well. Tyler throws accurately to his target and if he can quicken his release, defensive grades can get better. On the mound, Tyler has good balance and good mechanics. He competes in the zone and his lower 1/2 works well. Added arm strength and better extension will help mound effectiveness further improve. At the plate, Tyler has average balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. He has a level swing and he puts the ball in play. Added strength and more direct hands to the ball will help offensive grades spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
