Official Scouting Report

  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

02/24/2024 - National Showcase - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Tyler is a 6ft/170 1B/LHP in the 2027 class. In the field, he plays with high effort and is determine to make plays. He shows a solid pocket and redirects the ball with clean actions. Arm circle is impressive and releases from a 3 qtr. slot. Overall footspeed will assist with covering his defensive zones. On the mound, he shows a good lower half drive and an easy delivery. Works with good tempo from the stretch. He operates with a 3 pitch mix from a high 3 qtr. slot. His FB touched 71 and showed running action. His CB ranged 61-2 with 1-7 shape and medium break. His CH has deception at 63-6 and working to create more extension will provide an easy swing and miss pitch. At the plate, he shows good balance from a tall stance. His barrel is on-plane and he can put the ball into both gaps. Bat speed plays at 75 and working to stay inside his front foot will allow him to drive the ball with even more power action. Overall, Tyler is a solid prospect in the 2027 class and scouts are eager to witness his developments at future Factory events.

01/13/2023 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Tyler Camp is a 2027 LHP and 1B prospect. At the plate, he shows a fluid rhythm and works through the ball well with his lower half. He has a closed stance but seems comfortable in the box. At first base, he showed off a loose, accurate arm with a quick exchange and a raw velo of 61. Excited to see his footwork improve as he gets more comfortable playing the position. On the mound, Tyler shows off a big frame and smooth mechanics. He has good balance and the lower half is consistent. As he gets a more consistent arm action he will throw more strikes. Looking forward to seeing this development.

10/02/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Tyler is a solid 1B/LHP who will graduate in 2027. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows range of 56-58 mph with arm side run. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws to hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 5 years to further develop, Tyler has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
