12/20/2020 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Tyler continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.79 runner. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in the 2.19 with accuracy and carry (87 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, hitting abilities are now well above average through a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and has great knowledge of the game. He shows great leadership behind the plate with a lot of energy.

12/06/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Missouri City (Houston), TX Tyler is a pure catch and throw backstop who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon for an arm (87 mph) with impressive pop times of 2.04. Offensively, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel through a line drive approach. Hands stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap to gap pop.

08/10/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Tyler is a skilled/athletic 2-way player as a C/2B. Behind the dish, he sits in well with athletic/quiet actions and sway. He tracks pitches into a soft mitt and sticks the ball, getting his thumb under. He stays directional and has a clean transfer to throw - pop times at 2.14. At 2B, he shows quick/active prep and picks out the hops well. Hands are soft as he funnels smoothly to a clean transfer to throw. Throws are accurate and online as he works through the ball well. As a hitter, Martin shows a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He takes a hack at pitches he likes, barrels the ball up and hits line-drives. This 2022 grad is a solid 2-way prospect who has upside on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
