01/27/2018 - College PREP - Myrtle Beach, SC Tyler continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and he is a prospect on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting abilities are now outstanding through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive and display proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft / sure but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. Fastball showed a range of 77-79 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains speed on his changeup with arm side run and shows potential as being a quality pitch. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/17/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Tyler is a well-built 3B/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set and graduates in 2019. As a right-handed hitter, Tyler has a tall stance with a firm front side. He has a good load with a long stride and partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Tyler has a long swing path and is developing bat speed. He shows the ability to hit the ball the other way as well as drive the ball to the pull side. In the field, Tyler plays with effective pre-pitch actions and an athletic setup. He moves well laterally to his glove side. He fields the ball with a firm glove and has a clean exchange. TYler throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and throws are consistent with good strength across the diamond. On the mound, Tyler has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action. He extends through his release and stays square to home plate with a controlled landing at the proper stride length. Tyler gets good drive from his lower half and effectively uses his front side. His fastball has good cut action and his curveball has medium break. Overall, Tyler is a talented prospect with a well-rounded skill set and potential to get even better.

04/02/2017 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Tyler continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and is a prospect on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, defensive abilities have really improved, now showing well above average abilities as he displays quick / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, accuracy, and on line carry across the diamond. At the plate, he has improved, now displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing, works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields, and shows a solid feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Fastball showed arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run as well. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. We have been impressed with his progress since the last time we saw Tyler.

11/10/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Tyler continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, he has improved the most in his power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At 3B, feet are active as he works to square balls up. Hands are soft /clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on slow roller play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-69 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He shows good mound composure and competes on the mound. Control is well above average as he throws strikes and attacks hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a great teammate, very coachable, and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/02/2016 - College PREP - Charlotte, NC Tyler is a strong, athletic 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2019. At SS, he takes good first steps in working to get around balls and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft / sure presents well out front. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive approach. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through line drive path. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 69-71 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Changeup shows good sink but slows arm speed tipping off pitch to hitters. Getting on a long toss program to build arm strength will aid in further development on the mound. With 3 years to further develop, Tyler has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
