01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament During his time at Pre-Season, Tyler showed a strong arm with throws showing life and carry. He has good footwork, he is aggressive, and he plays behind the ball well. Offensively, he continued to show an aggressive approach and was looking to hit. He showed decent bat speed and is a contact type hitter. Tyler should get looks to play at the next level.

10/12/2011 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic - 2011 Tyler continued to show his improved tools at the Arizona Senior Fall Classic. His combination of instincts and speed allow him to cover quite a bit of ground in the outfield and make plays at all three outfield spots. His arm produces accurate throws with carry. At the plate, Tyler is aggressive with good head discipline and a line drive stroke. His approach combined with his quickness out the box puts pressure on the defense. He flashes some gap power and will continue to further develop with physical maturity. Overall, Tyler has an attractive mix of desire, tools and instincts and has a bright future ahead of him.

07/24/2011 - Team One Northeast 2011 Nally was timed at his lowest 60 time to date running a 7.03 at Team One Northeast. Tyler has good set-up behind the plate, he holds a low target, and his actions are quiet. He looks the ball into his glove, centers when blocking, and his exchange is clean. Tyler gets the ball to 2nd base as low as 2.06 seconds. In the OF, Tyler has a quick 1st step, he tracks the ball well, and he makes plays. He catches the ball at its highest point, gets good momentum toward his target, and he throws with good accuracy. At the plate, Tyler showed good balance, a proper set-up, and good barrel accuracy. He has quick hands, good bat speed, and he is short to the ball. Tyler swings in good rhythm and can hit hard to the pull side.

07/13/2011 - College PREP - Washington DC, MD Tyler showed well both in the OF and behind the plate at his workout in Washington, DC. Defensively, Tyler works behind the ball well, he shows good range, and he makes plays. He has sure hands, fluid footwork, and he fields in a low / athletic position. Tyler has a clean exchange, he follows his throws, and he delivers the ball with accuracy and carry to his target. Behind the plate, Tyler has athletic actions, a soft glove, and active feet. He catches athletically, he has good direction, and he gains ground properly. Tyler has a quick / clean exchange, and he throws to 2nd base with a loose arm action with accuracy and carry. Offensively, Tyler is a solid hitter with a good set-up. He has good balance, fast bat speed, and he can spray to all fields. Added physical strength and lowering his back elbow could help numbers get better.

12/27/2010 - Christmas Camp and Tournament 2010 - Session 2 Nally showed similar abilities at the Christmas Camp and Tournament as he has done in previous workouts. He blocks and receives the ball well, centers it on his chest, and he does a nice job working with his Pitchers. Tyler showed a strong, athletic build, and good life and carry to his target. Offensively, Tyler has a strong / compact stroke, a line drive swing, and he hits the ball hard to the pull side. He has a good trigger, he puts the ball in play, and shows good overall ability at the plate.

10/10/2010 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Tyler continues to show some improvements in his game as he enters his Junior year. In the OF, Tyler has a decent 1st step and he tracks the ball well. He makes plays, catches on the glove side, and squares his shoulders to his target. Tyler has a loose arm action, decent carry, and throws with accuracy to his cut off man. OF skills can improve if Tyler can quicken his exchange and stay on top of his throws to his target. Behind the plate, Tyler improved his pop times from 2.41 to 2.24. He has quiet actions, holds a low target, and he works around the ball well. Tyler looks the ball in, takes solid angles when blocking, and he deadens the ball softly. He has natural instincts behind the plate, and with a wider base and continuing to add arm strength, Catching skills will get better. Offensively, Tyler has a square set-up and good balance. He has a quiet / relaxed approach, quick hands, and he makes hard contact to all fields. Tyler has showed good improvements in his game and we expect more to come.

09/18/2010 - Accelerated Pitching/Catching Weekend (Commuter) Tyler continues to show fundamentally sound tools behind plate. Feet are quick, showing good agility through the blocking and throwing process. He shows a smooth transfer with pop times showing a range of 2.06-2.28 as he will benefit by getting on a long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, lowering pop times. He will also benefit by finishing his throws with his feet and body in line with target. Receiving and blocking skills show potential as being quality tools as he continues to improve. He needs to get on a solid flexibility program. Nally is very coachable and is a strong student of the game, showing a desire to get better. Leadership qualities are a plus that he needs to continue to develop. Tyler is young with a lot of potential and time to continue to improve.

06/17/2010 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 1 Tyler showed similar skills in Omaha as he has done in previous workouts. In the OF, Tyler makes plays on balls hit his way, and he reads the ball well off the bat. He works to get behind the ball, plays through it well, and has an accurate arm to his target. Continuing to add arm strength will help OF skills improve. Behind the plate, Tyler blocks and receives well, and does a nice job managing his Pitchers. He has an accurate arm to his target, and if he can soften his hands, let the ball travel deeper, we could see Catching grades get better. At the plate, Tyler is an aggressive hitter with good bat speed. He has a good swing path and he puts the ball in play. Added physical strength, and more extension through the ball will help offensive numbers rise.

12/27/2009 - Christmas Camp and Tournament #2 Nally continues to show steady play in his baseball abilities. He plays aggressive, showing a lot of energy in his defensive play in the OF as he reads ball well off the bat, taking proper first steps. At the plate, he uses the entire field as he works pitchers deep into the count, displaying patience.

11/05/2009 - Pirate City Select Training Tyler's abilities improved since Cape Cod Training in July, 2009. His arm strength improved from 38 to 40, and his fielding went from 40 to 45. Tyler showed a strong arm from the OF position and good baseball instincts. Overall, he is fundamentally ball player and should only get better as he continues to grow and fill out. A long toss program is still recommended to build strength and get proper extension. Offensively, Tyler has good bat speed, and an aggressive swing. He shows signs of having strength as a young player, but will need to incorporate his lower 1/2 more into his swing. Over the next couple years, if Tyler polishes his skills and continues his drill work, he could become a player to keep your eye on.

07/07/2009 - Cape Cod Training 2009 - Week 1 Tyler is a young, 2012 graduate that shows as a two-way player in the OF and as a catcher with a small, thin frame that shows some projection as he continues to physically mature and fill out. Foot speed is below average and he needs to get on a speed / agility program to aid in improving foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active and aggressive in taking proper routes and angles in tracking down balls in the OF. He reads the ball well off the bat, getting solid jumps. He has a feel for his defensive play showing average abilities. Arm strength is near average and he must get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength with carry on throws. Behind plate, pop times were 2.41 -2.51. At the plate, Nally has slightly above average abilities with average power through a simple approach. He makes adjustments and shows a solid feel for the barrel. Power numbers will increase as more overall body strength is developed. With 3 years to further develop, Tyler has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
