08/31/2008 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Tyler Pugh is a young LHP with a tall, lanky body that is suited for the mound. His body shows projection as it continues to physically mature. Arm strength is average and he needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength and raises velocities. He does utilize his tall frame to work on a strong downhill plane on the mound. He shows good balance and tempo in his delivery but does land closed causing him to throw across his body. Arm action drags through due to his front side closing off. Changeup is solid average displaying a solid feel for with sinking action. Breaking ball is slightly average displaying a 2/6 shape with tight spin. He needs to find a more consistent release point for better command of breaking ball. If flaws in mechanics are improved then command of his pitches will improve. With 2 years to further develop, Tyler has potential and could develop into a quality arm from the left side.
